Casablanca – TDM Aerospace announced the selection of A.M. Castle & Co. (Castle Metals) as its metallics, logistics and kitting partner supporting tube fabrication operations in Midparc-Casablanca, Morocco. Under the terms of the agreement, Castle will manage Work Center 1 in TDM’s production operation, assuming responsibility for material purchasing, inspection and acceptance, inventory management, tube cutting, kitting tubes with end fittings, and direct line feed to Work Center 2 – CNC Bending.
According to Lou Winoski, co-CEO and supply chain executive, “This agreement gets TDM out of the racking and stacking business and puts it into the hands of a world-class partner whose business is Supply Chain solutions for Specialty Metals. Meanwhile, we convert dead shop floor space into value-added production.”
Plans call for Castle to initially staff the Work Center with their own people, take ownership of the kit materials and processes, and then transition to a nearby warehouse in 2021.
Early in 2020, Castle committed to a strategic expansion in Morocco, hired an in-country manager, and initiated a site location search. Managing Director of Castle Metals Europe, David Roges, commented, “This long-term agreement is a significant step in our partnership with TDM Aerospace, a high-velocity and innovative enterprise, and a mutual commitment to support each other en route to new standards of excellence in the aerospace industry.” Castle President & CEO Marec E. Edgar elaborated, “We are honored to have been selected by another world-class aerospace manufacturer like TDM for a long-term, strategic expansion and partnership. Integrating directly into our customers’ mission-critical operations is a core part of our strategy for adding value in the global aerospace supply chain. We’re grateful to the TDM team for recognizing our strategic vision in the region and our expertise in managing complex supply ecosystems and look forward to growing with them for years to come.”
